ASID MILESTONES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

ASID was born in 1975 from the merger of the American Institute of Decorators (AID) and the National Society of Interior Designers (NSID).

ASID co-founded (with IDEC) the Foundation for Interior Design Education Research (FIDER).

ASID co-founded (with the Interior Design Education Council) the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ).

ASID initiated and has led the profession on the path to professional registration of interior designers in 26 states and jurisdictions across the country with legislation that protects consumers’ health, safety and welfare.

ASID has spent more than $ 3 million to support licensing efforts nationwide in the last 10 years.

ASID established the professional Continuing Education Units (CEUs) program for interior designers, which has grown from a handful of courses to more than 1,000 offerings now available through ASID.

The ASID Referral Service – located on the Web at www.interiors.org and accessible from www.asid.org – matches interior design customers to ASID practitioner members whose profiles best suit the customers’ specified needs. This is a free service both for the client and eligible ASID members. You can enroll in the service through the Members-only section of the website. If you have questions or need assistance with the ASID Referral Service, call ASID headquarters at (202) 546 – 3480 or send an e-mail to referralhelp@asid.org.
